Got my taxi out to Newfound gap and continued on the AT at 8:30. Hiked from the parking lot to Tri-Corner Knob shelter which was about 15.6 miles. Could have gone further but the park's regulations forbid camping in a tent. That and the next shelter down the road has been closed due to high bear activity. Todays weather was nothing but rain and fog. My boots stayed dry for the first two hours, after that it was wet feet until 5pm. Glad I had a good rain jacket, made my hike easier. Will be traveling out of the smokies tomorrow, can't wait to knock out those miles.
