Day of rain

August 14, 18 miles
Nice lite day of hiking today. Rained all day for me, that along with boulders made for an interesting day. Left the Eckville shelter at 11:30 waiting for the rain to stop. Was nice to sleep in for once. There were boulders everywhere on the top of mountains, had to use my hands to climb and get around. Met some more north bounders, catching up to everyone. Made it to the Bake oven shelter at 7:30. Getting darker every day, the shelter wasn't the nicest I've stayed at. Tomorrow more rocks.-

Port Clinton

Hiked 8 miles into Port Clinton from the eagles nest shelter. Got some candy from a local store, and checked out some motorcycles. Not just any old motorcycles, Triumph bikes. Hiked another 16 miles to a Eckville Shelter. Ordered some pizza and drank 2 liters of coke. So Full. Rocks were a bit fun today, with my long legs I can jump farther than most. Moving at around 2.3 miles an hour on the rocks.

McDonalds break

Aug 12th, woke up early and hiked 4 miles to the nearest town. Got a ride to the local McDonalds. Stayed there for 4 hours, charging my cell phone and eating and drinking. What a break! Got some supplies from the dollar general, and hit the trail again. Hiked 20 more miles to a shelter. Terrain is rocky, everyone complained about it, but it's mostly hype. Killing Pennslyvania

Aug 11th.

Hiked 31.5 miles to make up for yesterday. Might have left Max behind, must push on. Phone battery was dead all day yesterday. Trying to make it to town tomorrow to charge it up, that and get food I'm all out. Water is hard to find out here. Went over 8 miles without water, rough stuff when you are climbing mountains. Doing well, pushing on strong. Almost caught up with my friend Spook.

Oh by the way, the count down has begun. 999 miles left

Hiking in to Duncannon

Woke up early and hiked 4 miles to Duncannon. Terrain is rocky, but still not as bad as fellow nobo's make it to be. Ate 3 plates of food for breakfast, was so full. Got some short term supply items from the gas station and continued on. Another 4 miles from town, Mad Max realized he had lost his wallet. I decided to help him out by watching his gear so he could slack pack to go look for it. 2 hours later he came back with it. We hiked 6 more miles and called it a day.

August 9th, shelter cat

Hiked over 22 miles today. Got my laundry done this morning, along with another shower. Max and I ate at our breakfast at the diner. Was close to 11 when we finally left. Today we expected rain all day, but it never came. We made it to the shelter at 8:30. Porcupines are around here, they want to eat the salt off our gear. Found a shelter cat around, was yogi'ing pretty hard(begging for food).. We are losing light sooner every day now. My pack is getting smaller, under 25 lbs for sure. I'm getting really strong in my legs, I run up mountains now with ease. Hiking 4 miles tomorrow to Duncannnon, PA for resupply and more food! Might do 25-27 miles tomorrow, terrain is suppose to become rocky.

August 8th, member of the half gallon challenge

Well I'm now a member of the half gallon challenge. Finished my box of frozen goodness at 19 minutes. I did this at 9 am right before a 20 mile day in the sun. Was interesting clawing my way to victory one scoop at a time. Max finished his in 13 minutes, he was a hungry man. I consumed 1680 calories in that one sitting. Hiking out of the park was tough. Wanted to swim in the lake but the time just didn't work. Max and I hiked 20 miles into Boiling Springs, Pennslyvania. Met my buddy Hirsch for the last time, that man was born to crush the trails. In Boiling Springs we were able to get a good deal on a resort room. Once Max and I threw our stuff in the room we went to the restaurant. Got to eat some soup, drink some beer, eat some apple pie (with more ice cream), and my personal favorite steak with mash potatoes. Was so full, the only thing that made my day better was a hot shower. Best part of my week by far. Going to bed now.
